Our Boston Adventure

Ever since it was announced that State would play the University of Massachusetts in Boston I circled it on my calendar.  Not because of the game really, but that it would be a great excuse for a trip to Boston!  I had never been and was really excited to spend a long weekend there.  Jeff and I made the trip while the girls stayed home with Sam and Sissy!

The first day we got there we hit the ground running!  Carrie recommended doing a Duck Boat tour and she was right!  It was a great way to see the whole city- by street and water.  A perfect start.  The weather was amazing and we had a ball!  That night we went to the Patriots game.  What a really cool experience!  The stadium is not in Boston exactly, so it was an adventure to get out there.  We had to take the train.  A 20 mile trip that took an hour.  And we barely made the train!  Had we missed it we would have missed the game.  When we finally got there, they let us out in the woods.  Really!  It was the craziest thing!  A long walk into the stadium and up to the next to last row from the top and we were there!  They said that the train back would leave exactly 30 minutes after the last second on the game clock.  And they were not kidding.  It was exactly!  It took over an hour to get back to the station, then a cab ride to the hotel.  We didn't get to bed until after 2:00am!  After getting up at 4:30am to catch our flight we were really really tired!

We wore a little blue to fit in

Thankfully the next day we slept in.  When we got up we decided just to walk the Freedom Trail and see the beautiful city on foot.  It was great!  After two lunches that included two lobster rolls for me since we arrived, it was time for a change for dinner!  We went to the North Shore and walked the streets until we found an Italian restaurant that called us in.  And what did I have?  Lobster ravioli of course!  So yummy!  We took cannoli from Mike's Pastry back to the hotel for dessert.  A perfect end to the day!

For our last day we got up to take a tour of Fenway.  What a great experience!  We both loved it and I'm really glad we made time for it.  After that we headed back out to the Patriot's stadium for our game against UMass!  But little did we know, the train doesn't run when it's not the Patriots.  So a really expensive Uber ride it was!  We had quite a different view for this game since the stadium was not very full.  But it was so cool to see our Bulldog turnout!  I swear we had more fans than the home team!  Our Dawgs won and we planned to take another Uber home.  But it was not an option!  So we made friends at the nearby hotel and shared a cab ride back to the city with them.  And such a small world I knew them!  (This is such a Paul Radke move.  He was proud.)  A perfect cap on our travel adventures.

Boston truly did not disappoint.  It was a beautiful city and Jeff and I had a really great time.  We will be back!
